How to play co-op in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Despite being native to Pandora, your character in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora isn’t familiar with the world or its creatures by the time you step foot into the lush and vibrant world. Having been raised by the Resources Development Administration (RDA), your character reacts with a sense of awe and fear. But you don’t have to brave the dangers of the planet, not to mention the militaristic RDA, alone. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora lets you bring a friend along to help beat the humans back and save your planet from their pollution. Here’s how to get a game of co-op started.

How to start co-op

Before you can play co-op, both you and your partner will need to play solo for a few missions. Until you have both completed “The Aranahe Clan” quest, which does take a few hours of play, the feature will be locked.

Once that’s done, the option is still a little obscured. To find it, pause the game and hit left on your D-pad to go to the Systems menu. From here, Co-Op is the first option above Photo Mode, Settings, and Ubisoft Connect. Just select co-op and you will be prompted to invite one friend to join your game.

The Palpagos Islands in Palworld are a massive swath of land waiting to be explored. You will spend plenty of time catching a team of Pals in the early going, as well as collecting plenty of materials to build up a base and upgrade your gear, but exploration will always pull you out into the dangerous wilds. While you're out there, you will eventually happen upon various treasure chests with the promise of some great loot inside. These chests come in different types, with each requiring a unique type of key to be opened. The rarest of these chests need a Gold Key, which is obviously the hardest to find. In fact, you can look high and low and never find one. There's a trick to getting these special keys, and we'll share all those juicy details.

While Copper and Silver Keys can be collected as loot from certain Pals, Gold Keys won't drop from any monster in the game, even the Legendaries. The only way we've found to get a Gold Key is to kill an unlikely and dangerous target.

What monster-collection game would be complete without some Legendary versions to track down and add to your team? Palworld launched with a very respectable roster of Pals across its nine types, but unfortunately, it only has four Legendaries to start. However, even if you have friends along to help you search, this is a massive open world with a ton of ground to cover. If you think your team is up to the challenge and want to take on some of the toughest Pals in the game, here is where you can find all of the Legendaries currently in the game.
All Legendary locations
There are currently four Legendary Pals in Palworld: Jetragon, Frostallion, Necromus, and Paladius. Aside from their raw power, Legendaries in Palworld also have exclusive Legend-level passive skills that give them +20% in Attack and Defense and plus +15% in Movement Speed.
Jetragon

Jetragon is a Dragon-type Pal you can ride as a flying mount that resides in the western region of the map near the volcanoes. You can find it by going north from the Beach of Everlasting Summer fast travel point at coordinates -792, -319.

How to play Palworld with friends

If you want to team up with friends, Palworld supports either four-player co-op on Xbox or up to 32 players on a single Steam server. To invite your friends to your Pal world, go to the World Settings menu either when first starting or when loading into a world. Make sure it is set to multiplayer, then pause the game and select the Invite Code to get the unique code to give to your friends. In the main menu, they will simply select Join Multiplayer Game and input said code to load into your world. Note that whenever any player leaves that world, they will need to enter the code again to rejoin.
